Galveston! Summer Family Vacation 2011

Saturday, July 30 - Left home at 5:20 AM and headed a bit west and then straight south.  Drove and drove and drove until we got just south of Dallas.  Only stopped twice and the trip was almost 12 hours.

Sunday, July 31 - Arrived in Galveston!  Checked out where we were staying--way cool!  The beach was less than 100 yards from the condo.  Condo had three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a bunch of fun toys to use while playing in the water.  Went back into town, ate some crab legs, bought about a week's worth of groceries and headed to our temporary home.

Monday we played in the water.  Tuesday we played in the water and went shopping in downtown Galveston.  Wednesday we went to Schlitterbaun's in Galveston which is a HUGE water park.  So many slides and fun stuff that we didn't even get to them all.  (Though, admittedly, the ones we didn't get to were ones that looked a bit scary.)  Thursday we went into Houston and went to the NASA Visitor's Center.  Then Friday we played in the water a bit in the morning and started the long trek back home.  We didn't get quite as far on our trip home the first day.  Stayed just north of Oklahoma City and then finished the trip on Saturday.

Below is a video and a bunch of pictures from the trip!

I wanted to make sure that I got in some of the pictures, too.

This was Jace's masterpiece.  Said it was a portrait of me.  :)

Trent & His Muscle Shirt

The boys watched "Over the Top" which is the arm wrestling movie with Sylvester Stallone.  Trent made his own muscle shirt with a red hawk on the front and then displayed his "over the top" arm wrestling moves...

Trent sportin' the Red Hawk muscle shirt.

And now he's just gone "over the top" and defeated his arm wrestling opponent.
